First Play Audition in 45 Years Pt 3
Updated: Oct 24

An update on how my callback went at the University of Georgia as a 62-year-old theater major, where I auditioned for the role of Miss Prism in Oscar Wilde's play The Importance of Being Earnest. It was the first audition I've had since high school.
And after the audition, I was so fortunate to get a callback, and I went back a couple of days ago. And I loved it because they brought six of us back for Miss Prism, and we did a scene with Cecily, who is who Miss Prism is the governess for. And they had us all in the room at the same time, which was great because I got to see all these different perspectives and performances and the choices that the different actors made. Some people used furniture that was in the room. A couple of times, the Cecilys would get on the floor, and it was just great. I loved it. Actually, when we got in there, the director paired up a Cecily with a Prism each time, and I was the first to go. So he had me paired up with another actor. We did our scene, and then everybody else, all the other Prisms, were paired up with someone. And then we had a few extra Cecilys. So he had me do it again. He had a couple of the other Prisms do it agai, too. And there was one young lady who was reading for both parts, which is amazing.
They were all so talented. I learned something from every single one of them, and everybody was very supportive. And now we wait!
